Even if this game gets stuck in 'Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen' level development hell; the beta is already a better iteration of diablo 2 / 3. This is essentially the diablo 2 remaster I've been waiting for; and they're not even designing it to be played on phones.. on a technical level a complete mess nice that we cant warn people on the steam forums regardless of settings it runs bad only on very low above 60 fps on ultra the fps is dropping constantly vsync implementation is terrible cant even maintain 30 fps lol honestly you guys should have waited your game should run like a dream considering the overall presentation im not playing until its fixed the game is killing my gpu over 80c temperature. Feels like more of a D2 clone than other aprgs. Still a ton of work to go but it will be a great game that I put many hours into. The game is pretty bare bones but it is fun and playable currently. They already have some events with prizes.https://lastepochgame.com/meet-the-team/. Great game, has tons of potential but also needs a lot of work. Hopefully it'll become more visually appealing as the game development progresses. I'm looking forward to playing some multiplayer with friends!I've played 6 hours so far and it has been a very enjoyable 6 hours!. First of all, most of the down voted reviews saying that the game is bad, buggy, PoE/diablo clone, laggy and overall bad. It's an EARLY ACCESS game so "IF" you buy it, you obviously expect some sort of buggy experience. Everyone saying it's a clone, of course a game with a similar genre is going to have some similarities, it's like saying Grim Dawn is a Path of Exile clone or Path of Exile is a Diablo clone. Yes the game is buggy. Yes there are some lag and graphic performance issues. Yes you're paying -/+ $30 for an EARLY ACCESS game (you are paying that much because it's to support the devs, think full price at release will be something like $10?). BUT the game is not bad, it's actually quite fun and enjoyable but that is my opinion.. Didn't play the alpha, bought the beta on steam release. Not recommanding it doesn't mean I think the game is bad or not worth it, but I think that anyone that doesn't have an unquenchable craving for this type of game might just as well wait for this game to mature. Maybe because of all the games releasing as early access did I forget what a true beta is. Last Epoch is in early beta, and it really shows.Optimization is poor, skill animation quality is uneven, combat isn't smooth, campaign far from done and disappointing so far (the time traveling thing is literally used in 1 quest only)That could be a death sentence for any "hack&slash" if it weren't for all the things Last Epoch does well.It gets rather obviously a lot of inspiration from Path of Exile, and if you're familiar with PoE you shouldn't feel lost at all with LE's mechanics. On the other hand, it brings a lot of new and fresh ideas, so that someone that didn't like PoE might still like this game. For exemple, the skill progression trees feels really good, but, again, I felt blueballed when the skill progression was available only for the ~5 first skills of any class (out of 20-ish skills per class). To sum it up, Last Epoch has a lot of potential, but in its current state you should really consider if you need to play it right now or if you can afford to wait a few months. It's definitely headed in the right direction, but it just lacks too much polish. It sucks putting "not recommanded", because it doesn't help the devs and they never lied on the state of the game, but it is my honest feeling.. as an arpg addict i gotta say this is the coolest new game to come around since grim dawn - and that game, while a lot less buggy, was a lot less fun to play in beta. the skill trees for skills thing is killer, even with only about half of the skills currently having their own trees i'm able to do all kinds of weird, fun stuff. mostly i've just been experimenting with the skill that lets you blow up your minions because listen, i really like explosions, it's my jam you might say, but like there's so much good stuff you can do just in that tiny area of one section of one of the classes' skill trees. i can already tell this is gonna have the best build variety in any arpg this side of path of exile. actually, it might already have that.it's jank as ♥♥♥♥, sure. it's barely passable for beta. but that's because it literally just came out two seconds ago, why are you so impatient. the devs are communicative, friendly, and updating very frequently, which is a good sign. before i bought this on a whim i thought it was nuts that they'd charge $35 for an unfinished game they planned to sell for less than half that, but now i'm thinking, like, are you guys sure you wanna let this go for just $15? i don't wanna tell you how to capitalism but i feel like you could get more if you deliver on the promise this showsif you can handle serious early access jank in exchange for super in-depth character build options, fun clicking skills for your itchy finger, and just really good understanding of what makes an arpg work, i'd definitely recommend this as-is. if you're a big wimpy diaper child and have to wait until a thing is "done" before you "consume" "it", then you should probably wait! no judgment i promise i wouldn't do that
